RELEVANT RULES & REGULATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

  1. MEMBERSHIP: The Society shall have the following classes of members:
  • Founder Members: The desirous persons who are alumnus of Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi shall be founder members for life.
  • Life Members: An alumnus who has completed a course of study may be admitted as a Life Member on payment of such consolidated sum as may be prescribed.
  • Members: An alumnus of Campus Law Centre, who has completed a course of study from CLC, may be admitted as a member on payment of the annual subscription fee as may be laid down from time to time.
  • Associate Members: Any person who is not eligible to be a member but who has been associated with CLC as a Teacher may be enrolled as an Associate Member (Annual) or Associate Member (Life) on payment of the subscription fee as may be prescribed for annual membership or life membership. An Associate Member shall have all the rights and obligations as members except that they shall not have a right to vote in the election of office bearers and shall not be eligible to contest such an election.
  • An alumnus shall be admitted as a member who has applied in writing and his application has been approved by the Governing Body, and he/she has paid admission fee & other subscription as prescribed in paragraph 2 below.
  • Honorary Members: Judges from the higher judiciary who have completed a course of studies from CLC may be admitted as Honorary Members.
  1. SUBSCRIPTION: The membership fee and the subscription shall be as under, unless otherwise revised by the Governing Body of the Society:
  • Admission Fee: INR 500/- at the time of membership
  • Annual Fee: INR 500/-  per year
  • Life Membership Fee: INR 5000/-
  1. CESSATION OF MEMBERSHIP:

A person shall cease to be a member on the following grounds:

  • On his/her written resignation, been accepted by Governing Body;
  • On the death of a member;
  • For non-payment of annual subscription within 3 months of expiry of the financial year;
  • On his/her being declared as insolvent;
  • Non-attending meetings without taking leave of absence for three consecutive meetings of the General Body; or
  • On his/her expulsion or incurring any disqualification for being a member.
  1. EXPULSION OF MEMBERS:

Any members of the Society may be expelled by a resolution passed by the three fourth members of      the Governing Body present and voting on the ground that he/she has brought disrepute to the Society or has done some other act detrimental to the interest and proper working of the Society.

Provided that the member shall not be expelled unless he has been given a reasonable opportunity to represent his case before the Governing Body.

  1. GENERAL BODY
  • “General Body” means and includes all Members, Life Members and Associate Members of Campus Law Centre Alumni Association, university of Delhi. It shall meet at least once in a year to review the overall working of the Society. However, a Special General Body Meeting may be called at any time by giving a minimum notice of seven days to consider special or urgent matter.
  • It shall elect members of the Governing Body.
  • The quorum for meeting of the General Body shall be one third of its total strength.
  • Every decision taken and resolution passed by the General Body would be by simple majority.
  • The final authority in respect of all matters except those reserved by Governing Body shall vest with General Body.
  1. ADVISORY BOARD
  • It shall comprise of fifteen or more members. The Patron-in-Chief, the Patron, Chairperson, and Professor-in-Charge shall be ex-officio members and remaining members shall be nominated by the Governing Body for such term as may be decided by it from time to time.
  • The Advisory Board shall formulate policies and provide advice for the Governing Body in consonance with the aims and objectives of the Society.
  • It shall have one or more Vice-Chairperson/s and other members as nominated by the Governing Body.
  • The Vice- Chairperson/s shall be nominated by the Governing Body.
  • The Professor-in-Charge shall be Ex-Officio Convener of the Advisory Board.
  • The Advisory Board shall meet twice a year, or more if necessary.
  • The quorum of the Advisory Board meeting shall be one third of its total strength
  • The meeting of the Advisory Board shall be presided over by the Chairperson and in her/his absence by the Vice-Chairperson.
  • The Convener shall maintain a true and correct record of the proceedings of all the meetings of the Advisory Board.
  • The Convener shall communicate with Governing Body and General Body on behalf of the Advisory Board.
  • The tenure of the members of the Advisory Board shall be three years.
  1. GOVERNING BODY
  • The Society shall have a Governing Body consisting of minimum seven and maximum fifteen members including office bearers who shall be elected by the General Body.
  • The term of the Governing Body shall be three years from the date of its constitution. However, their term would continue till the successor Governing Body is elected / constituted.
  • The Governing Body shall have the following office-bearers: President (One), Vice-President (Three), General Secretary (One), Secretary (One), Joint Secretary (One), Treasurer (One) and Members (Seven).
  • The Governing Body shall hold its meetings at least once in three months, or earlier, if necessary. At least 7 days’notice shall be given for a meeting of the Governing Body, but an emergency meeting may be called by the President by giving 72 hours’ notice.
  • The quorum for meeting of the Governing Body shall be one third of its total strength.
  • The Governing Body may constitute such Committees as it thinks fit for the smooth and efficient working of the Society and may also frame Rules/Bye-laws for the purpose.
